Sterling Silver Cocktail Shaker Arthur & Bond Yokohama c.1900


Fabulous sterling silver cocktail shaker by Arthur and Bond of Yokohama who were the makers and retailers of the best fine art and decorative objects at the beginning of the 20th century in Japan. They catered primarily to the expat community and had outlets also in London and in the USA. In the main they employed local silversmiths and the Japanese styling is very evident in this piece which is decorated with chrysanthemums, bamboo and oriental motifs.

The item has been hand made the internal compartment showing evidence of the planishing marks. Superb craftsmanship. The embossing and chasing of the chrysanthemums and woven bamboo is of the finest quality.

Condition: Good antique condition commensurate with age and light usage.
