Rare & important Northern Provincial silver spoon York 1667


This is a rare and important North country spoon. Charles II silver trefid spoon hallmarked in York in 1667 made by William Mascall.

It has an oval bowl with a rudimentary rat-tail which has worn. There are scratch initials ‘S*C’ on the reverse of the terminal, length 19 cms, approx. weight 35.5 grams.

Omar Ramsden silver spoon

Arts and Crafts Omar Ramsden Handmade Spoon 1930


This is a superb example of a hand wrought spoon by Omar Ramsden with a stylised thistle terminal hallmarked in London in 1930. It comes in its original wooden box with the name of Omar Ramsden Artist Goldsmith printed on the internal satin liner. Lovely planishing marks to the bowl.

The spoon is a really good example of the best craftsmanship from Omar Ramsden’s workshops.

Condition: In excellent antique condition commensurate with age and little if any usage. Crisp hallmarks, no tip wear. The box has some shredding of the satin covering the hinges but otherwise the box is in excellent condition.

Art Nouveau Copper Bowl Centre Piece C.1890 by Raulin Signed


Belgium table centre piece by Raulin of Dinant in the Art Nouveau period taste made circa 1890. Copper bowl with bark like design supported by 3 single footed cloven hoofed cast mythical fauns. All on a triangular stand with a central floral motif. The darker copper bowl contrasts wonderfully with the lighter brass fauns legs and base. Signed to base.

Silver spoon set with amethyst London 1977


Hand made silver spoon hallmarked in London in 1977 with makers initials B.E.M. The spoon has an amethyst which has been set into its crown shaped terminal. The spoon most likely commemorates the Queens silver jubilee of 1977. The bowl has lovely planishing marks and carries on the reverse the full set of sterling silver hallmarks.

Hand raised silver turquoise bowl

Handmade silver bowl with Turquoise cabochons Jon Braganza


Hand made silver bowl designed and made by Jon Braganza. The bowl has been hand raised from a flat piece of silver in the York Minster Antiques own silver workshops by Jon.

The bezel set turquoise have been set around the lip of the bowl. The planishing and hammer marks enhance the way the light bounces off the bowl.

It has been hallmarked at the Goldsmiths Hall in London where Jon is a registered silversmith.

Exquisite fine quality gilded bronze Buddha’s mask set with turquoise stone. The casting of the bronze is of the finest quality. From the Northern Indian area.

Condition: Overall in good antique condition commensurate with age and light handling. Light surface marks and scratches in line with its age. Some gilding loss on forehead and a small “chip” to base on left side (illustrated).

Christopher Dresser Silver Double Bowl Elkington & Co 1883


Normally this bowl is found in silver plate but this one is in silver. A Christopher Dresser design made by Elkington and Co with a double bowl and central handle. Of typical Dresser style it is both elegant, plain but very modern looking for its creation date of 1883.

A design truly ahead of its time. The twin oval bowls with straight tapering sides, each bowl has an inward scroll to the outside rim, C scroll strap handle to the central join.


The same model in electroplated silver can be found within the Victoria & Albert Musuem Collection. Their museum number M.14-1970

Condition: Hallmarks are a little worn but dechiperable. Stag motif to each side of the bowl. Some rough soldering possible old repair to area where bowls join central handle.

Extremely Rare Scottish Provincial Tablespoon Wick c.1825


Fabulously rare Scottish provincial Wick silver tablespoon by John Sellar (active c 1825) in excellent condition and made of good quality heavy gauge silver. Marked with the word Wick and the letters JS. The terminal is marked with initials in script. Fiddle pattern. 

A really excellent rare good quality tablespoon with very little sign of wear and with many years of use left in it.

Standing Mazer A E Jones

Rare Albert Edward Jones Arts and Crafts Silver Standing Mazer 1921


This is a rare standing mazer in the Tudor manner made by foremost Arts and Crafts silversmith A E Jones and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1921.

The upper part comprises a silver bowl decorated with reeded and tongue and leaf patterns mounted within a fruitwood bowl. This is fixed to a thick decorated column onto a circular foot. The area just above the foot has pierced decoration of masks, leaves and flowers. The base is hallmarked with the full set of hallmarks and the bowl is hallmarked with the sterling and date letter.

It measures 15 cms high and is just over 12.6 cms across the bowl
